Windsor Tackles Downtown Litter with Enclosed Bins

The City of Windsor, Ontario is addressing persistent downtown litter, safety risks, and repeated clean‑up demands by rethinking its public waste infrastructure. As part of its Strengthen the Core initiative, the city identified that open bins were allowing waste to be accessed, scattered, and repeatedly re‑collected, creating avoidable workload and safety concerns.

To tackle this, Windsor introduced metroSTOR enclosed units across key downtown areas, preventing access to waste once deposited while maintaining ease of use. The result has been immediate improvements, with cleaner streets, reduced re‑cleaning, and enhanced safety for both the public and city crews.
