$117 million up for grabs as EPA offers new recycling grants
In exciting news, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that $117 million in grants will become available next year. The grants aim to not only improve solid waste recycling infrastructure, but to also offer funding for Recycling Education and Outreach (REO).
There are three great opportunities available for funding. The first two focus on Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) and has separate applications for either communities ($58 million total), or Tribes and intertribal consortia ($20 million total).
Grants across these categories range from $100,000 to $5 million and require the applicants to address a range of objectives across waste management. These include reducing contamination, improving collection and the use of recycled commodities. metroSTOR offer a number of products that can form part of your application, from dumpster enclosures to access controlled organics cart enclosures.
The third opportunity is for round 2 of the EPA’s Consumer Recycling Education and Outreach Grant Program. Totalling $39 million and focused on composting, this aims to fund a single applicant and consists of three projects:
