Baltimore’s Alleys Turn the Corner on Trash

Illegal dumping and overflowing trash has long blighted Baltimore’s downtown alleys, attracting rodents and making pedestrian routes unpleasant. Just steps from the Inner Harbor, a new effort is tackling the problem head-on to create cleaner, safer public spaces.

metroSTOR Trash Cart Enclosure Units have been installed, providing secure, rodent-resistant storage for up to three 95-gallon carts in a sleek anthracite-grey steel shell. Features such as front-door access only, electronic code locks and internal dividers reduce misuse, control waste and keep the area looking consistent.

The impact has been immediate. Where once there were open bins, loose bags and rats in broad daylight, the alleys now look cleaner, safer and more inviting. It’s a clear example of how smart infrastructure can transform urban spaces and encourage pride in the community.
