metroSTOR Eco-Stations Boost Waste Management in Downtown Athens

Downtown Athens, GA – home to over 80 bars within a single square mile, faced mounting challenges with managing high volumes of waste in a dense, fast-paced environment. Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department needed a tough, flexible solution to keep sidewalks clear, waste streams separated, and access controlled. Enter metroSTOR: modular enclosures that could be relocated, maintained easily, and stand up to the daily wear of downtown life.

After discovering metroSTOR at a waste conference, the County installed six heavy-duty BD-B Eco-Stations on busy streets, complete with secure hatches, keypad access, and clear recycling signage. Staff and business owners have praised the improvement in waste organization and cleanliness. With plans underway to add even more features like cardboard slots and kickstand-style doors, these custom Eco-Stations are proving a smart investment in a cleaner, more efficient downtown.
